MULTITASKING
Last night I read a great article, it really made me stop and think about the way I live my life. It was the latest Madison magazine and it was about multitasking and why it isn’t healthy. The female was trying to cut out multi tasking in her day to day life to see if it could actually make her life more productive, enjoyable and fulfilled.

It spoke about the need to finish something you start and not to switch to another task because it leaves you behind in time and productivity. To try turning your phone off when you walk in the door, so you can have conversations and relaxation without the interference of social media, work and technology. That it is important to place your feet on the ground and gather your thoughts that seem to race around your head because although it isn’t physical it is still multitasking.

I thought about my own lifestyle and thought, oh my god that’s me. I’m the girl that sits on the couch painting my nails, watching tv and conversing with my boyfriend all at the same time. I’ve started checking instagram as soon as I wake up, surely I have better things to look/ think about. Gosh I get ready for work, have a pout in the mirror and take a picture, it’s addictive I know but surely I can be more productive with my time. I had a birthday lunch with my dad and checked my instagram whilst eating a lovely meal. I’ll drive, talk and check my makeup, the list goes on.

So this morning when I got up to get ready for work I was very conscious of my own efficiency. I had a shower and did my makeup straight away, then made breakfast and packed my lunch, then packed all my bags, got dressed etc etc. And even though I had the same routine I do most days, I was more conscious of the way I did it. I didn’t do one thing and run to the other, check my phone, internet, instagram in between. It actually made me realise how much of my day I’m wasting on technology. I mean I have a life to live, friends and family to see, a relationship to be a part of, a store to run and I have dreams beyond what my current life consists of.

So maybe you should try to cut out a bit of your multi tasking and time wasting, you’ll be surprised in what you achieve.
