TAKING FLIGHT

There's something about feathered fashion that makes my heart beat a little faster. The glamour, decadence and luxury of the ruffling when you twist and turn. Feathers make a lady unique, bold, glamorous, they create a story, a talking point. I don't think you would just throw feathers on, they have a purpose; to mark an occasion, to make a statement, to provide a presence. They make me dream of winter weddings, the glamour of Gatsby, the put together fabulousness. They take me back to an era that seems long gone, where woman made a concerned effort in their appearance before they left the house, before bed hair, high tops and bombers. Yes these are all great in their own right but I just dream of the old school glamour, the luxurious fabrics, sequins, silks and lace. C'mon prince.........take me to the Gatsby ball.

LAST NIGHTS LOOK

Last night I celebrated my best friends' birthday. I had to get ready in an hour which is quite a feat after just finishing work. I'm all about volume when it comes to hair and lately it was falling a little flat. So I plugged in the hot rollers, whilst I quickly buffed and scrubbed away in the shower. When it came to my outfit there were a couple of things I wanted to achieve; warmth (its freaking freezing in Tassie at the moment), sex appeal, room to move (when we are working the dance floor and filling the belly at dinner)and a bit of glitz and glamour.

I feel sexiest in a pair of jeans and heels, I'm guessing its because there are no restrictions when moving whether I'm sitting, dancing or eating. You've probably realised that I'm a lover for all things sequined, like a bird to the bling I cannot stay away. This Sequinned top is from a Hobart vintage store that is no longer around. I LOVE the jagged hem of the top and the striking almost animal print pattern. I'm wearing my favourite high waisted black Nobody skinny jeans. I'm absolutely obsessed with Nobody denim, a Melbourne brand made in Australia how fantastic! I think I have five or six pairs now...uh oh I smell another obsessive tendency. The shrug I'm wearing is an old Sportsgirl number, from the 'vault' I like to say. And on my feet some red suede siren heels.

When shopping I like to find statement pieces that add an exciting, glamorous, unique element to an outfit. You may say that this outfit is made up of many; the sequinned top, loop knit jacket and red shoes. But to me these aren't fast fashion buys that have an expiration date I've had these pieces for years. I don't believe fashion should really go out of fashion, its about reinventing it to make it feel modern and different. People keep asking me whether the peplum look is going to go out, well in my opinion that's completely up to you. If you look good in it, then work it!

As my outfit and hair is doing enough of the talking I decided to keep my makeup quite simple with a dewy bronze base, gold shimmer eye, bold defined brows, lots of lashes and a statement red lip.

This is the total look minus the lash loving.

Lashings of mascara make a huge difference, for special occasions I use the fibre lashes which I used on the top.

The Tools of the trade I used for my total makeup look were:

Brushes for every element of the face. Top to bottom:
-Brow brush- to comb those strays into place before colouring in.
-Brow shadow brush- to fill those little gaps and define the shape
-Shadow brush- to dust over the eye lid
-Concealer brush- to conceal under eyes, seal lips, and cover any imperfections
-Blush brush- to add the rouge
-Powder brush- to seal the base
-Bronze Brush- to warm the face with bronzer
The base team:
All Maybelline and Revlon.
-BB cream mixed with liquid foundation
-Concealer
-Seal the base with the powder
Now time to add some warmth and colour to the base. With bronzing, blush and illuminator.
-Maybelline Bronzer all over face
-Glow mineral blush to add colour to eyelids and cheeks
-Revlon illuminator used on cheek bones, eyelids and above brows
The final touches; eyes and lips.
-ID bare minerals loose gold shadow dusted over lid
-Maybelline eye shadow pallet used the darkest brown to colour and define brows
-Revlon eyelash curler
-Glow fibre lashes used on top row
-Eye of Horus mascara used on bottom lashes
-Lips coated with Maybelline lip colour

Voila all complete in an hour, who would've thought? What do you think of the look? Hope you enjoyed reading xoxo E

The DEVIL Wears Prada

If the Devil wears Prada, I want to be taken to the dark side......

I'm just loving Prada's 2012 pastel, embroidered, colourful unique clothing and jewels. To me this is pure indulgent fashion. You haven't seen it replicated in every chain store, online site or by local designers. Maybe some plastic jewels seen here and there but really let's be honest, there is simply no comparison.

There's something about embroidery that just screams luxury, vintage, old money. Some may say it looks like curtains or couches but trust me if you saw the outfits below walking down the street, you'd be looking twice and it would definitely be for the right reasons. I'm on the hunt for lady like embroidered fabulousness. I've seen bomber jackets, vests and handbags but I want classic, yet modern, vintage inspired, eye popping colour, co-ordinating outfits. The Prada look but the Sass and Bide price tag. If anyone can point me in the right direction please do! either on here or on instagram @fashionmoonwalker

I've been craving a Melbourne trip big time, I once had these amazing lilac leather gloves with a ostrich print, they were delicious. You wont believe what I did to them.... I got a mark on them, I soaked them in a bucket and they came out....white. I know, I know what you're thinking who soaks leather? well me and once only because they are now finito. They were from a gorgeous little Melbourne boutique named kinki gerklinki and I always find something special in there. I love how its locally made and inspired.

I also feel on this Melbourne trip, I'm planning in my provocative mind there will be a trip to Prada, maybe to look, maybe to purchase. I currently own three black monogrammed Prada purchases; sunglasses, key wallet and top handle hand bag. I'm thinking a little colour may be needed. Perhaps some bling, maybe some red or purple? This could be dangerous, the bank funds are supposed to be there for an overseas trip or house but they are just sitting there looking at me. Fingers crossed I have the will power......to buy something timeless ;) goodnight fashion lovers xox E

PERFECTIONISM

A woman once told me that Perfectionism is unhealthy. That aspiring for perfection only sets you up to fail. That by never being satisfied with what you have achieved can be detrimental to your wellbeing. Because how can one celebrate success when you believe you should always be doing better?

I used to think perfectionism was healthy; it’s like having a personal trainer perched on my shoulder, motivating and willing me to do better. I still do believe it is healthy to some degree I just have to be careful to not cross the line.I think it all comes down to wanting it all and wanting the best. And when I say the best I don’t only mean designer handbags, clothing and accessories. I also mean in my relationships with my partner, family and friends, in my workplace, in my health and fitness. Gosh I feel exhausted just typing it.

Sometimes I have so much to do I end up doing nothing at all. Par example this week my boyfriend jetted back to WA to work for five weeks. As I hit the snooze button for the gym at 5:45 the first few mornings of his absence I thought; NAH! I’m having a week off, a week off 5:45 alarms and gym sessions but also a week off really caring what I put in my mouth. Now I know it sounds slightly obnoxious but another thing you should know about me is that I’m stubborn as hell and if I want or don’t want to do something it will happen.
This is why I’m a firm believer in doing things you love; otherwise you too are going to have a ‘NAH’ moment and give up on something mediocre or ‘imperfect’ in your life. Except it could be something more meaningful like your relationship or job.

I’m not sure if this ‘soul searching’ charade I have going on has anything to do with my baby sister travelling across the globe for four months, while I sit here waiting for goals and dreams to be achieved.

And just like that the personal trainer is on my shoulder once again. I want to be fit, I don’t want to spend a fortune on health and finding out what is wrong with me, I want my diploma finished, I want to travel, I want to buy a house and here we go again I WANT, I WANT, I WANT.

So then what I realise is the only thing stopping my wants is me. So I’ve got a plan and I’m going to write it down.
- I rented two seasons of Gossip Girl I made myself take one season back as punishment, diploma comes first, plan 1
- I need to blog more often, if not for you, for me what a great release, plan 2
- Gym, health starts tomorrow, always start on a Monday so much easier than starting mid week, plan 3
- I have my passport, I must now research places to go, plan 4
- The bank balance needs to increase for a house, so I guess I’ll back on the those unnecessary extravagances, just a little plan 5
- I’ll research my next course to start after finishing my diploma, I don’t want to give myself too much free time, plan 6

Hmm well there we have it, that should be achievable and I’ll try my hardest to remember to pat myself on the back from time to time.

Bright Lights Big City

As human beings we have the desire to run at times. When things get hard, rough or unbearable, sometimes you don't need to run, you just need to get away. So when my sister offered me a spot on her Sydney studio floor for an Easter weekend away, i was more than happy to oblige.

My weekly mornings usually begin with me rummaging through my wardrobe in the space of fifteen minutes to find the desired look for the day. But when packing with weight limitations i don’t have the luxury of careless decisions. So as sad as it may seem i spent a Saturday night playing dress-ups within my wardrobe. Who knew I could have such fun and have so many options!

With the Sydney heat in mind I packed with a few key purposes; colour, coolness and comfort. This resulted in dresses, jackets, minis and sequins as always.. How tempting it was to shop with so many options. I came out on top style wise that's for sure, as for the bank balance; well that needs some immediate renovations. However a wise woman once said; you only live once, you may as well look damn fabulous!

Dressed by Yeltuor; Fairground star shirt, black cult Nobody jeans, Sportsgirl Belt, Sass and Bide aviators, Wittner Flats, Prada.

A pre-planned outfit; Wayne by Wayne Cooper kaftan style dress, Sportsgirl belt, Zhouk cropped black jacket, Sass and Bide aviator sunglasses, Mollini stud ankle boots, Prada.

I bought some fabulous aqua Baku bikinis and this is the free dress i received! stoked that's for sure.

Along Oxford St i stumbled into a gorgeous shop called Antons and fell in love with this lilac coat. Made in Melbourne and a touch too big, it is currently getting tailored to me in Sydney, i can't wait 'till we meet again!

Saturday night= August street white cami, Sportsgirl sequin skirt, Josh Goot jacket, Zu shoe platforms, Zu shoe studded bag.

HEAT WAVE

Is it just me, or are you too over the Australian heat wave? Or in my case Tasmanian, I know right Tasmania hot? You must be kidding all we wear down here are down jackets and uggs. Correct and incorrect we wear both. But right now we are sweating beneath our light summer layers.

I’m well and truly over this weather. I work in fashion and trust me right now; angora, leather. Mohair and silk do not fly in this stifling heat. Yes it means we can have an extended summer of not only increasing our depleted vitamin d levels and deepening our tan in the process but I don’t mind popping my d in the form of a pill and I enjoy a tan all year round, it comes in a pump bottle form. This is due to not only lack of time but lack of desire to have that leathered, weathered skin textured appearance that i prefer in my Prada handbag not in my mirrored reflection.
Yes it means more time to wear cut offs and midriff tops but shouldn’t this attire be left to a salt and pepper film clip?

Maybe I’d feel different if I had washboard abs but to me more is more, unless we are talking bedroom then less and lace well that’s always more....
Oh how I dream of the days of silk blouses, fur vests, pencil skirts and over the knee boots. Hopefully this heat goes right out the window with the midriff baring tops. Who knew I was such an old fart. If you need me I’ll be laying beneath the air-con.... xoxo

WET LOOK VAMP

This entry is the follow up result to Saturday Night Fever. Below are the pictures step by step of how my look came together for the night. The event my girlfriend and i went to was a sports memorabila auction and dinner to raise money for the Tasmanian bushfire appeal. It was a fantastic night that raised over $32,000 which was a great achievement and it was amazing to be a part of it. Hope you like the finished product!
The essentials for this look.
I started with a good base, defined brows and dry hair.
I then followed up with a smokey eye and black liquid eyeliner. I used a gel with strong hold for the wet look hair style, you need quite alot. Then brush the remainder to keep it neat.
I'm a big fan of a blue red lip, i coated the lip with a marykay lipstick, then added gloss and blotted.
I poured myself into my Rachel Gilbert dress, strapped on the tony bianco platforms, added a sportsgirl cuff and zushoes studded bag.
This look requires a serious expression, or so i thought haha
My gorgeous bestie Jess, i look like a midget beside her!
The footballers involved in the fundraiser Michael and Brad.
