LAST NIGHTS LOOK

Last night I celebrated my best friends' birthday. I had to get ready in an hour which is quite a feat after just finishing work. I'm all about volume when it comes to hair and lately it was falling a little flat. So I plugged in the hot rollers, whilst I quickly buffed and scrubbed away in the shower. When it came to my outfit there were a couple of things I wanted to achieve; warmth (its freaking freezing in Tassie at the moment), sex appeal, room to move (when we are working the dance floor and filling the belly at dinner)and a bit of glitz and glamour.

I feel sexiest in a pair of jeans and heels, I'm guessing its because there are no restrictions when moving whether I'm sitting, dancing or eating. You've probably realised that I'm a lover for all things sequined, like a bird to the bling I cannot stay away. This Sequinned top is from a Hobart vintage store that is no longer around. I LOVE the jagged hem of the top and the striking almost animal print pattern. I'm wearing my favourite high waisted black Nobody skinny jeans. I'm absolutely obsessed with Nobody denim, a Melbourne brand made in Australia how fantastic! I think I have five or six pairs now...uh oh I smell another obsessive tendency. The shrug I'm wearing is an old Sportsgirl number, from the 'vault' I like to say. And on my feet some red suede siren heels.

When shopping I like to find statement pieces that add an exciting, glamorous, unique element to an outfit. You may say that this outfit is made up of many; the sequinned top, loop knit jacket and red shoes. But to me these aren't fast fashion buys that have an expiration date I've had these pieces for years. I don't believe fashion should really go out of fashion, its about reinventing it to make it feel modern and different. People keep asking me whether the peplum look is going to go out, well in my opinion that's completely up to you. If you look good in it, then work it!

As my outfit and hair is doing enough of the talking I decided to keep my makeup quite simple with a dewy bronze base, gold shimmer eye, bold defined brows, lots of lashes and a statement red lip.

This is the total look minus the lash loving.

Lashings of mascara make a huge difference, for special occasions I use the fibre lashes which I used on the top.

The Tools of the trade I used for my total makeup look were:

Brushes for every element of the face. Top to bottom:
-Brow brush- to comb those strays into place before colouring in.
-Brow shadow brush- to fill those little gaps and define the shape
-Shadow brush- to dust over the eye lid
-Concealer brush- to conceal under eyes, seal lips, and cover any imperfections
-Blush brush- to add the rouge
-Powder brush- to seal the base
-Bronze Brush- to warm the face with bronzer
The base team:
All Maybelline and Revlon.
-BB cream mixed with liquid foundation
-Concealer
-Seal the base with the powder
Now time to add some warmth and colour to the base. With bronzing, blush and illuminator.
-Maybelline Bronzer all over face
-Glow mineral blush to add colour to eyelids and cheeks
-Revlon illuminator used on cheek bones, eyelids and above brows
The final touches; eyes and lips.
-ID bare minerals loose gold shadow dusted over lid
-Maybelline eye shadow pallet used the darkest brown to colour and define brows
-Revlon eyelash curler
-Glow fibre lashes used on top row
-Eye of Horus mascara used on bottom lashes
-Lips coated with Maybelline lip colour

Voila all complete in an hour, who would've thought? What do you think of the look? Hope you enjoyed reading xoxo E
